Rohde & Schwarz Unveils MXO 5C Series: World’s Most Compact 2 GHz Bandwidth Oscilloscope

Rohde & Schwarz Launches MXO 5C: The World’s Most Compact 2 GHz Oscilloscope for Space-Constrained Applications

Rohde & Schwarz has unveiled the MXO 5C series, a groundbreaking oscilloscope that stands out for its ultra-compact 2U height, making it ideal for rack mount and high-channel-density applications. As the company’s first oscilloscope without an integrated display, the MXO 5C delivers the same high performance as the MXO 5 series but in a significantly slimmer profile—just 3.5 inches tall.

Key Highlights:

  • Compact Design: At only 2U high, the MXO 5C fits in tight spaces where traditional oscilloscopes cannot. Its small footprint is perfect for environments where space is at a premium, such as automated test systems.
  • High Performance: The MXO 5C features the next-generation MXO-EP processing ASIC, offering the fastest acquisition capture rate in the world—up to 4.5 million acquisitions per second. This enables up to 99% real-time signal capture, providing unparalleled detail and visibility into signal activity.
  • Versatile Operation: Designed primarily for rack mount use, the MXO 5C can also function as a standalone bench oscilloscope. Users can connect an external display via DisplayPort or HDMI, or operate the oscilloscope through a web interface.
  • Enhanced Features: The MXO 5C supports both four and eight channels with bandwidth options from 100 MHz to 2 GHz. It offers a channel density of 1500 cm³ per channel, consumes just 23 watts per channel, and features an E-ink display for key information visibility even when powered off.
  • Pricing and Availability: Starting at EUR 18,000 for the eight-channel model, the MXO 5C sets a new benchmark in the industry. Additional options include 16 digital channels, an integrated 100 MHz arbitrary generator, protocol decode and triggering options, and a frequency response analyzer.

The MXO 5C series is now available through Rohde & Schwarz and select distribution partners. For more details, visit Rohde & Schwarz MXO 5C.
