Kia Introduces the EV3: A Compact Electric SUV with Big Ambitions

Joining the electric revolution, Kia has launched its latest addition to the EV lineup: the EV3. As the fourth electric vehicle in Kia’s portfolio, following the footsteps of the EV9, EV6, and EV5, the EV3 marks a significant milestone in the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility.

Built on the versatile E-GMP modular platform shared with its larger counterparts, the EV3 inherits advanced interior technology from Kia’s flagship EV9 SUV, promising a premium driving experience.

Sporting a sleek two-box silhouette reminiscent of the flagship EV9, the EV3 exudes confidence with Kia’s signature ‘star map’ LED lighting pattern adorning the ‘tiger-nose’ fascia. The exterior design is bold yet refined, featuring flared wheel arches, trapezoidal creases, and a distinctive hatchback-style tailgate with vertical tail-lamps.

Inside, the EV3 offers a tech-forward cabin that echoes the sophistication of the EV9. Twin 12.3-inch floating infotainment screens, haptic buttons, and a 30-inch widescreen setup create a futuristic cockpit experience. Sustainable materials, including recycled PET bottles and biowaste-derived components, underscore Kia’s commitment to eco-conscious design.

Notable features include a retractable table in the front centre armrest, configurable ambient lighting, and a 12-inch heads-up display. The EV3 also introduces Kia’s first personal AI assistant, setting a new benchmark for intelligent connectivity in electric vehicles.

With ample storage space, including a 460-litre boot and a 25-litre frunk, the EV3 offers practicality without compromising on style or performance. As Kia continues to push boundaries in the electric vehicle market, the EV3 stands out as a compelling option for eco-conscious drivers seeking innovation and sustainability in their daily commute.”/

The EV3, leveraging the advanced E-GMP platform, provides versatility with two battery options: a 58.3kWh pack for the standard model and an 81.4kWh pack for the Long-Range variant. Equipped with a front-axle mounted electric motor, both versions deliver robust performance, boasting 201hp and 283Nm of torque. Accelerating from 0 to 100kph in just 7.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 170kph, the EV3 ensures an exhilarating driving experience.

In terms of range, the Long-Range variant impresses with up to 600km on the WLTP cycle, offering ample freedom for extended journeys. Utilizing batteries sourced from LG Chem and employing a 400V architecture, the EV3 achieves efficient charging, allowing for a swift 10 to 80 per cent charge in just 31 minutes.

Drawing inspiration from its flagship counterpart, the EV9, the EV3 incorporates cutting-edge features such as an 800V EV architecture, vehicle-to-load capabilities, and regenerative braking with paddle shifters. These advancements enhance both performance and efficiency, setting new standards in the electric vehicle landscape.
