EV Connect and General Motors introduce seamless charging for GM electric vehicle owners.

In a significant development, EV Connect has expanded its collaboration with General Motors, announcing the integration of Plug and Charge functionality into GM vehicle brand applications on the EV Connect network. This enhancement aims to simplify the charging experience for GM electric vehicle (EV) drivers, allowing seamless connections and charging at nearly 200 compatible DC fast chargers nationwide, and eliminating the need for payment cards or RFID tag scanning.

With this integration, GM drivers can initiate charging sessions effortlessly through a one-time enrollment within a GM vehicle brand app, enabling Plug and Charge technology. The user-friendly feature eliminates the need for drivers to swipe cards, scan tags, or input billing information, streamlining the public charging process and reducing the time spent on initiating sessions.

EV Connect plans to expand the Plug and Charge capabilities to additional charging stations throughout the year 2024, further enhancing the convenience for GM EV drivers. The stations equipped with this technology can be easily located through a filter within GM vehicle brand apps, ensuring a quick and hassle-free charging experience.
Jon Leicester, Vice President and head of Commercial, at EV Connect, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This collaboration helps to relieve GM EV drivers from one of the most common friction points of the charging process, enhancing the EV ownership experience, and holds the potential to drive EV adoption further.” He highlighted the shared mission of EV Connect and GM to simplify the EV ownership experience, emphasizing the significance of this agreement as a crucial step in that direction.

EV Connect, recognized as a preferred GM charge station operator, provides cutting-edge EV charging management solutions, including advanced data analytics and 24/7 customer support, at GM dealerships across North America. The company is an integral part of GM’s comprehensive public charging ecosystem, offering GM EV drivers access to approximately 3,500 EV Connect public chargers with the ability to start sessions conveniently and make contact-free payments after fueling.
