BYD e6 EV Facelift Set for Diwali Launch in India: What to Expect

BYD India is gearing up for the launch of its updated e6 MPV, which is expected to debut around Diwali. The facelifted e6, first introduced in India as a commercial vehicle and later made available to private buyers in September 2022, has now been given a stylish overhaul.

The revamped e6 was unveiled at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) under the M6 name. For the Indian market, the model will likely retain its e6 designation but with several key updates.

Exterior Enhancements:

  • Front Design: The e6 now features new full-LED headlights with a redesigned LED daytime running light signature. A new satin trim and updated front bumper with chrome accents complete the fresh look.
  • Rear Design: The facelift includes larger wraparound taillights with additional LED detailing and a modified rear bumper with new chrome inserts. Expect updated alloy wheels as well.

Interior Upgrades:

  • Touchscreen: A larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen replaces the previous 10.1-inch screen, enhancing the infotainment experience.
  • Interior Features: The dashboard remains mostly unchanged, but the central console now includes two wireless charging pads, updated switchgear, and a new drive selector lever. The e6 also gets a new steering wheel while retaining the analogue instrument cluster.

Seating and Battery Options:

  • Seating Variants: Internationally, the e6 is offered in 6- or 7-seater configurations, but the India model is currently a 5-seater.
  • Battery and Range: In Indonesia, the e6 is available with two battery packs: a 55.4 kWh unit with a range of 420 km and a 71.8 kWh unit with a range of 530 km. The e6 in India is expected to continue with the 71.8 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 530 km and 204 horsepower, an improvement over the previous model’s 95 hp and 180 Nm of torque.

Stay tuned for more updates as BYD prepares to bring the upgraded e6 to Indian roads this Diwali.
